Helpful Information & Links

The best way to get started on a window or door project is to schedule an appointment (date and time) with one of the Bashful Bob’s representatives to review your project on-site and provide you with an estimate. We will do a walk around with you on your project, discuss options and ideas and work up an estimate. We don’t charge homeowners for the estimating appointment and it’s a great tool for you to use to determine your budget.

We believe in educating our customers and helping them make the right choice for their home. There are no high pressure sales techniques involved; instead we will email you an estimate and encourage you to view to our showroom at your convenience. This will give you the opportunity to touch, feel, slide and inspect the display windows options we carry. If you then decide to proceed with your project, we will schedule a verification visit with one of our installation crew to double check measurements (measure twice, order once) and give the installer a preview of the jobs. We typically contact you once we know when we will receive the product in order to schedule the installation.

We typically require a deposit on all projects. We are a contractor and we follow the rules established by the Oregon CCB which requires contracts on projects greater than $2,000 as well as a number of CCB information forms designed for your protection as well as ours.

We have been in business for over over 30 years and feel a deep commitment to being a responsible member of our community that has supported us all those years. Your satisfaction is important to us. We know we will see you around town and want to be happy to see you when we do.

  • Energy Trust of Oregon – Rebates available for customer who heat their home with electricity provide by Pacific Power or with natural gas provide by NW Natural Gas. Rebates are between $1.00 to $1.25 per square foot depending on the window.
  • Consumers Power has rebates available for their customers that heat their homes using electricity provided by Consumers Power. Rebates are between $6.00 and $8.00 per square foot depending on the window.

One of the key things we think of when it comes down to the quality of a window is the warranty. We believe a manufacturer’s warranty should cover the window and any labor associated with warranty work.

Vinyl windows should have welded corners and they should be clear excess vinyl. Whether a vendor buys their extrusions or extrudes their own, the vinyl compound needs to withstand heat and cold, and have good color stability as well as impact resistance.

Wood clad products should have nicely fit corners and grain matching on sashes. Exterior is typically painted and paint should be evenly applied, somewhat fade resistant and impact resistant.

When it comes to wood doors we prefer to have a thick enough veneer to sand on. That might sound funny, but there are doors that if you sand too much you go through the veneer and into the core. Some fiberglass doors have wood edges, but we prefer composite edges as they eliminate the possibility of the door rotting from moisture.

We really look to our doors to take a lot of abuse, being opened and closed frequently. We recommend interior doors with wood edges, because we believe they stand up longer and are less likely to have screws pull out.

Installation is half of the equation when it comes to windows and doors. The American Architectural Manufacturers Association is a leader in window and door certification and installation practices. Following their established methods is a safe bet. Our installers are trained and certified by Installation Masters to the AAMA standards.

Here in the Northwest, water and moisture is a part of life and a consideration on any building project. Using appropriate caulking and flashing (flexible and rigid) are keys to keep water out.

Door installation is a particular skill especially when dealing with existing homes where openings aren’t always square. As with windows it is important to use the right caulking, flashing, shims, and sill pans.
